BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – The Barbados-based Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) says Grenada will host this year’s Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development (STC-2024) in April.

The CTO said that the April 22 -24 event would explore the themes for a legacy of Caribbean tourism sustainability: people, planet, prosperity, purpose, and partnership.

The CTO describes the STC, which began in 1997, as the Caribbean region’s premier event for high-level networking and regional dialogue on sustainable tourism development, providing a platform for tourism policymakers, private sector stakeholders, thought leaders, and strategic partners to gather and discuss the issues, challenges, and opportunities confronting the future of Caribbean tourism.

“Designed as a forum for information and knowledge exchanges, the conference is organized around a central theme with relevant topics to highlight an important aspect of tourism and sustainability,” the CTO said.

It said recommendations are made for how regional governments and the private sector can design and implement proactive sustainable tourism policies and strategies to contribute to the regional tourism industry’s growth, sustainability, and resilience.

“The STC features three days of interactive engagements with presentations by subject-matter experts, moderated panel discussions, questions and answers segments, thematic break-out sessions, master classes, experiential field trips (study tours), and the presentation ceremony for CTO’s Sustainable Tourism Awards.”

It said that the STC attracts high-level tourism authorities, private sector executives and other tourism-related industry professionals, regional and international media, tourism and sustainable development partners, students, academia, and other public and private sector stakeholders related to tourism and ancillary sectors.
