GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Guyana has told a visiting trade mission from Trinidad and Tobago that the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country offers numerous opportunities for investment in various sectors.

Senior Investment Officer at the Guyana Office for Investment, John Edghill, told the 19-member delegation that the Irfaan Ali government is keen on investment in several critical pillars, including food, energy, and climate security.

The Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce delegation includes 16 companies interested in the construction, information and communication technology (ICT), and logistics industries.

Edghill reassured the delegation that once their investments align with the government’s vision, capitalizing on opportunities in Guyana becomes much easier. He also outlined the incentives and concessions that come with investing in the non-oil sectors, providing a sense of security and confidence in the investment climate.

“You bring a lot of experience, your technology…your knowledge, and if we are to marry those things together, I think that is a good avenue for us to jointly work as the Caribbean Community to address many of our internal concerns,” he added.

Trinidad and Tobago’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Conrad Enhill, commended the mission, underlining the mutual commitment to exploring avenues for collaboration and investment in the emerging market. The President of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Kiran Maharaj, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the strength of collaboration and the importance of regional ties, making it clear that the trade mission is a shared endeavor.
