KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has eliminated gender-specific references within its ranks.
In a decree outlined in the most recent force orders, the JCF says titles such as Woman Constable will be abolished in favor of simply Constable, reflecting a modernized approach to equality within the Force.
The JCF says the move, as symbolic as it is progressive, is a critical step in its transformation.
The directive was handed down by newly appointed Commissioner of Police Dr Kevin Blake.
The JCF says the decision comes at a historic moment. The force commemorates 75 years since women first donned the police uniform, which it says is a poignant reminder of the enduring struggle for gender parity in law enforcement.
