LONDON, CMC—Peterborough’s forgotten Reggae Boy Jonson Clarke-Harris came off the bench to score a quick-fire brace in injury time and help power the east England club to a 4-1 victory over Fleetwood Town in English League One on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old, sidelined from the squad in recent months after refusing a move away during the January transfer window, entered the game in the 79th minute to set up Archie Collins’ 81st-minute strike before scoring in the fifth and sixth minute of stoppage at the end.

With the brace, Clarke-Harris pushed his tally for the season to 13 in all competitions, having scored only once since the start of the year with playing time severely limited.

“I never felt comfortable because they were a threat—(Promise) Omochere was a threat, (Bosun) Lawal was a real threat. They were strong boys causing us problems, and we struggled against them,” said Peterborough manager Daren Ferguson.

“If I’m going to be honest, we looked vulnerable to conceding, and then they got another penalty, and [goalkeeper Jed Steer] made another save.

“But Jono has come on, made one, and scored two, and he’s had a massive impact on the game, and credit to him for that.”

The visitors shocked the Posh after only 13 seconds at London Road when Lawal put them ahead, but they squandered a chance to go 2-0 up when Omochere missed a 10th-minute penalty that Lawal had earned.

Malik Mothersille leveled in the 17th from David Ajiboye’s cross, but the hosts had to wait until nine minutes for time to double their lead. Collins scored after being put through by Clarke-Harris.

Any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Clarke-Harris raced into a long ball from Steer, beat goalkeeper Jay Lynch with a clinical finish, and netted from close range moments later.

The victory carried the Posh to 80 points in the fourth, securing their playoff spot.

In the south-east, Reggae Boy hopeful Devante Cole scored his 18th of the League One campaign, but Barnsley let a lead slip and lost 3-2 to Portsmouth.

The 28-year-old was on hand in the sixth minute to provide a close-range finish at Fratton Park, and John McAtee doubled the lead in the 59th after Kusini Yengi had leveled for the hosts in the 10th.

However, Colby Bishop (83rd) and Conor Shaughnessy (89th) scored seven minutes towards the end to secure Portsmouth victory and promotion to the Championship.
