SANTIAGO, CMC—The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) says the seventh meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development will take place at its headquarters here from April 15 to 18.

During this meeting, representatives of governments, the United Nations System, international organizations, the private sector, academia, and civil society will analyze the progress and challenges to fulfilling the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“The regional forum – held annually since 2017 – aims to provide useful opportunities for peer learning through voluntary reviews, the exchange of best practices, and the discussion of shared targets. Its conclusions are relayed directly to the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), the global mechanism for follow-up on the 2030 Agenda that meets each year in July in New York,” ECLAC said.

During the meeting, representatives from Latin American and Caribbean countries will discuss the urgency of reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty at a time of multiple crises, “effectively delivering sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions.”

ECLAC said delegates will also participate in a session to address the critical issues related to progress on implementing the 2030 Agenda in the Caribbean subregion.

The event will include five-panel discussions in which the forum’s member countries and other stakeholders will share their experiences and challenges regarding the 2030 Agenda’s implementation.

The seventh forum meeting will be preceded by a meeting on the mechanism for civil society participation and by the Forum of Children, Adolescents, and Youth of Latin America and the Caribbean, which will take place on Monday, April 15.
