WASHINGTON, CMC – The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Monday said Latin America and the Caribbean, like the rest of the world, must embrace innovation to enhance water-related solutions for societies and economies.

It said that this is the central theme of the “Focus on the Americas sessions” at World Water Week (WWW) 2023, the preeminent international platform for discussions within the water and sanitation sector.

The IDB and a host of other sponsors are coordinating the conference. It is hosted annually by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). IDB said WWW 2023 would provide valuable insights and bring together global experts to tackle water and sanitation challenges under Seeds of Change: Innovative Solutions for a Water-wise World.

The conference, which runs until Thursday, brings together experts from government agencies, public utilities, academia, the private sector, and international organizations to guide efforts toward water-conscious solutions and transformative change.

“Our sessions are designed to inspire and promote the adoption of innovative measures to water and sanitation services. We will delve into success stories, innovative methodologies, tools, and strategies that foster thriving ecosystems and successful platforms.”

The organizers said that the “Innovation for equal and inclusive water and sanitation services” sessions, for example, will focus on how to close the disparity in access to water and sanitation services.

“Through the exploration of cutting-edge solutions, the aim will be to discuss possible solutions to ensure an equitable and fair distribution of these resources, promoting a transformative impact in marginalized communities.

“Focus on the Americas will feature high-profile experts with extensive experience in water and sanitation to foster dialogue among stakeholders from different sub-regions and sectors,” the IDB added.
