TRINIDAD-PM Rowley holds energy talks with US officials

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell held talks with the United States Special Presidential Advisor for the Americas, Chris Dodd, at the White House on Monday, according to a statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister.

It said Rowley, who was in the United States to receive an honorary doctorate from Howard University last weekend, was accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Stuart Young.

“The talks featured extensive discussions which surrounded progressing Trinidad and Tobago’s energy security and the potential effects of same on CARICOM and the wider Americas,” said the brief statement.

It said that the meeting was also attended by Amos Hochstein, State Department Senior Advisor for Energy Security, Juan Gonzalez, Special Assistant to the President and NSC Senior Director for the Western Hemisphere, and Eric Jacobson, Office of Vice President.

The statement said the “parties agreed to continue working together to secure energy stability for the region.”
