WAYNE, PENNSYLVANIA, AUGUST 26TH, 2020 — In line with Eastern’s commitment to offer nonstop service to underserved markets around the globe, the rebranded carrier continues to expand despite the challenges the aviation industry is facing during the Covid-19 pandemic. Following Eastern’s repatriation flight efforts, which have safely returned home over 31,000 passengers, the airline has eased back into scheduled service with their first flight on Jun. 12 between GYE and JFK.
As the pandemic continues to pose daily obstacles, the newly relaunched but legendary airline is quickly adapting to the heightening demand in the markets they serve. Their current routes include:
GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR — Eastern continues to offer flights between JFK or MIA and GYE on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Additionally, Eastern is proud to offer a 50% discount to Ecuadorian senior citizens age 65+ andEcuadorian disabled citizens with CONADIS documentation. Introductory fares are available as low as $96 one-way.
PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI — Eastern began repatriation flight efforts between PAP and JFK/MIA on Mar. 24. Starting, Aug. 29, the carrier will commence scheduled service flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays between JFK and PAP. Introductory fares start at $124 one-way including taxes and fees. Eastern is “looking forward to bringing customers the best value available with one free checked bag (up to 70 lbs.) on every flight, with every fare.”
LOS CABOS, MEXICO — Eastern Airlines has announced twice-weekly service beginning Nov. 14 from New York’s convenient JFK International Airport to Los Cabos, the glamorous desert-meets-sea getaway at the tip of the Baja Peninsula.
“We are very excited to grow our network and add the first nonstop flights between New York City’s preferred gateway (JFK) and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico,” said Steve Harfst, Eastern’s president & CEO. “Eastern is looking forward to connecting
customers with the Baja experience by providing great travel options as well as convenient, non-stop service to one of the most luxurious destinations in the world.”
As part of its inaugural flight celebration, Eastern is offering tickets starting at $199 roundtrip for travel through Feb. 5, including all taxes and fees. Seats are limited. In addition, each traveler’s gear flies free of charge. That includes sports equipment, from golf bags to surfboards. Josh Bustos, Eastern’s Senior Marketing Director, said “our motto is, ‘No bag left behind,’ which means we have the space onboard for whatever is traveling with you.”
As the first US flag carrier to be certified since 2007, Eastern remains agile and will continue to add several new routes this Fall. The airline is currently making significant upgrades to their existing fleet of aircraft, from avionics, to inflight entertainment systems, to new seats and interiors and updated cabin LED lighting. These enhancements are well underway and will be completed and placed into service effective immediately. Eastern Airlines maintains a fleet of wide-body, long-range Boeing 767 and 777 aircraft. Seat configuration is generous with extra legroom for all passengers, more head-space and larger lavatories creating a safer and more comfortable in-flight environment for customers.
