OTTAWA, CMC – The Canadian government says that since December 30, 2023, it has suspended registrations for its humanitarian family program of access to permanent residence for Haitians, Colombians, and Venezuelans.

The Canadian services concerned say they have received enough applications to fill the 11,000 available places and are currently evaluating the applications already submitted.

The Canadian government says it will inform the public once it starts accepting applications for the program.

The program is open to 11,000 people with family residing in Canada (Canadian citizens or permanent residents, a spouse, common-law partner, children, grandchild, grandparent, brother, or sister), willing to sponsor an application, and who reside outside the province of Quebec.

The government has stressed that applicants must plan to live in a province or territory other than Quebec, as this province has its own program.
