GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – The Demerara Harbor Bridge Corporation Management (DHBC) has issued an apology after indicating that its systems had been hacked and a vulgar message, which read ‘F**k Guyana,’ showed up on Thursday night on the Bridge’s digital messaging board.

DHBC manager Wayne Watson, in a statement, apologized to the public, whom he said “were forced to endure vulgarity during a calculated attack.”

The notice scroll at the Bridge’s entry “F%$K GUYANA” has triggered a full investigation and has left the Bridge’s management embarrassed over the breach.

The DHBC said that it viewed the breach as an attack on the Bridge and the Guyana government and that the profane message was perpetrated with ill intent by a yet unknown person or persons to cast a shadow of doubt over the corporation and its hardworking staff.

“This will not be taken lightly. Not only do we view it as an attack, but also a total misrepresentation of who we are as a team executing our mandate of ensuring safe and timely crossing of everyone using the Demerara Harbor Bridge”, the statement noted.

Watson assured that the matter would not be taken lightly.

“We wish to assure everyone that the profane message broadcast via the digital messaging board at the Bridge was perpetrated with ill intent by a yet unknown person or persons to cast a shadow of doubt over the corporation and its hardworking staff.

“This will not be taken lightly. Not only do we view it as an attack, but also a total misrepresentation of who we are as a team executing our mandate of ensuring safe and timely crossing of everyone using the Demerara Harbor Bridge,” he added.
