ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – China’s Ambassador to Dominica, Lin Zian Jiang, has expressed satisfaction with the diplomatic relations established with Dominica 20 years ago, saying that the Asian country will continue to play a role in transforming the Dominican landscape.

“As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between our two countries this year, I take immense pride in the remarkable progress achieved through the China-Dominica cooperation in the area of agriculture, education, health care infrastructure, and other sectors,” the diplomat said.

He said this initiative has significantly contributed to the enhanced economic landscape of Dominica, improving the living standards of the population.

“China is enthusiastic about deepening cooperation with our Dominican friends. I am confident that China and Dominica, as good brothers and close partners, will collaboratively elevate bilateral relations to new heights.”

On Monday, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, speaking at the Dominica-China Modern Agricultural Centre, said that his administration would continue working with Beijing, noting the positive impacts of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

“There is no doubt that the relationship between Dominica and China has resulted in tremendous positive benefits to the people of Dominica in every sphere of our development.” He said, reminding his audience that China has played a significant role in developing the agricultural sector here over the last two decades.

“I remember meeting with the Vice President of the People’s Republic of China in Jamaica in 2005. I said to him I wished China would support us in agriculture. Within two weeks of that meeting, the team came to Dominica to establish the technical mission.” Skerrit said.

He said that ever since China invested significantly in the agriculture sector and with the help of Chinese technology, Dominica has been able to strengthen its food security.

“As the years go by, we are strengthening that partnership and collaboration to ensure it helps the farmers, farming community, and the agriculture sector even more.” Prime Minister Skerrit noted.
