PARAMARIBO, Suriname, CMC—The state-owned Suriname Communications Service (CDS) has announced that President Chandrikapersad Santokhi will visit China soon.

It announced the visit of China’s Central Television (CCT) representatives earlier this week.

“With the planned visit, he aims to look ahead to the future, develop concrete visions, and explore opportunities for new partnerships in which increased investments will play a role. Moreover, he strives to create opportunities for Surinamese business people in China and vice versa,” CDS said.

CDS gave no proposed date for the visit to Beijing but said that during their discussions with Santokhi, the CCTV representatives provided the head of state with a “brief explanation” about the channel and its services.

CCTV is China’s national television channel, broadcasting through various channels. Its 51 channels show a variety of programs in six languages to more than one billion viewers.

CDS said there has been a close relationship between China and Suriname for more than 170 years, which has proven beneficial in various areas and is being continued as desired. It added that This collaboration has contributed to social and technological progress and yielded significant economic benefits for Suriname.
