KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – National Meteorological Service employees stationed at the Norman Manley International airport are reportedly restive, with some staying off the job to protest poor working conditions.

This was confirmed on Friday by the General Secretary of the Union of Technical, Administrative, and Supervisory Personnel, St. Patrice Ennis.

Ennis told Radio Jamaica that the workers had communicated their challenges to the responsible Permanent Secretary last week but had yet to receive a response.

So far, the protest is currently confined to the Kingston-based airport. Still, it noted that workers at other Met Service facilities could act similarly in solidarity with their colleagues directly affected by the poor workplace conditions.
