HONORING RESPONDENTS

Dear Editor,
With the death of yet another public safety officer, FDNY Fire- fighter William Tolley, this now brings the total to approximately 40 Law enforcement officers, and 30 fire and rescue respondents who have died so far this year while on duty.

As members of their families, fellow officers, and a grateful public continue to grieve their loss, when will our country set aside a single “National Day of Appreciation”, honoring all members of our law enforcement and rescue teams?

Last year, a Bill was introduced to CongressHR 5425…It was sponsored by Rep.
Michael Capuano for a “National First Responders Day, my hope is that this new Congress will approve and sign into Law this Bill.

This Honor is long overdue.
