GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – United States Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken is to visit Guyana as part of a visit to the Caribbean that will also include his attendance at the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) summit that gets underway in Trinidad and Tobago early next week.

Bilken will travel to Georgetown on July 6 to meet with President Dr. Irfaan Ali, Foreign Minister Hugh Todd, and critical members of the cabinet to discuss priority bilateral issues, including food and energy security and decarbonization, climate resilience, regional migration, and building local capacity.

Bilken will be in Port of Spain on July 5 as CARICOM leaders hold their 45th Regular Conference, which also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the regional integration movement.

“Building on Vice President Harris’ historic June 8 visit to The Bahamas, where she co-hosted the U.S.-Caribbean Leaders Meeting, Secretary Blinken will engage on pressing issues in the region with the represented heads of governments, including Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, and incoming CARICOM Chair and Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit,” the US State Department said in a statement.
