GEORGETOWN, Guyana– The Guyana Defense Coast Guard Monday confirmed that the body of one of the two people missing when a tug boat capsized last Friday had been found and that the search continues for another person.
Regional Commander Boodnarine Persaud said the body of 29-year- Richard John had been recovered near the location where the tug boat had capsized in the Canje Creek, northeast of here.
The body of Richard John is being removed as the search continues for his girlfriend.
The authorities said that the search is continuing for Shellon Williamson, the reputed girlfriend of John, who was on the tub boat with two others, including Keon Jannis and Captain Dennis John, who were able to survive the ordeal.
The captain of the vessel had told reporters that he was cooking when Williamson went below the shed of the boat, and shortly after, she called out saying that there was water entering the vessel.
But as they attempted to bail out the water, the boat leaned and capsized.
