GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Guyana and Qatar Tuesday signed three new cooperation agreements following bilateral talks.

According to a statement posted on the Facebook page of President Dr. Irfaan Ali, he held talks with Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is paying a one-day inaugural visit to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country.

The two countries’ delegations were engaged in discussions with the two leaders, later witnessing the signing of two agreements and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The agreements will cover economic, commercial, and technical cooperation, as well as the encouragement and protection of mutual investments, while the MoU will be for collaboration in the legal field.

Qatar and Guyana established diplomatic relations in 1996, with Georgetown seeking to strengthen bilateral cooperation in numerous fields, including climate change and energy.
