ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – The Grenada government says it has made a “significant update” to the framework for the Free Tuition Programme Policy (FTPP),” making higher education more accessible to all citizens and permanent residents.

In a statement, the government said in July it had announced the removal of tuition fees for students attending the T.A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) and the New Life Organisation (NEWLO) provided that they meet the entry requirements and have not participated in either institution in the past.

The authorities said in July that this initiative is the first phase of the free tuition program that will apply to secondary school graduates for 2023 and TAMCC students who are presently completing their second year.

In its latest statement, the government said that the new expansion “ensures that more individuals have the opportunity to pursue higher education” and that the amendment to the FTPP reaffirms the government’s commitment to providing quality education, fostering lifelong learning, and developing a knowledgeable and skilled workforce.

“Prospective students who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply for the upcoming Michaelmas term. The Ministry of Education commits to collaborating with the institutions to facilitate the application and enrolment processes,” the statement added.

The government said its TPP comes amid other key education initiatives, such as the approval of the UNESCO-funded Technical and Vocational Education and Training Policy.
