LONDON, CMC – Grenada’s Kairo Mitchell and St Lucia international Dominic Poleon scored on Saturday to extend their superb form. Still, their goals were in vain as their respective sides failed in their quest for total points in the National League.

Playing in a seven-goal thriller at home at Spotlight Stadium, the 25-year-old Mitchell banged in his seventh of the season. Still, Rochdale slumped to a 4-3 defeat to Oldham Athletic, who got a goal from Barbados international Hallam Hope.
St Lucia International Dominic Poleon.

Away at Mill Farm, 30-year-old Poleon scored the opener – his eighth of the season – but ten-man Ebbsfleet United were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Fylde.

The results left Rochdale 12th on 20 points and Ebbsfleet 17th on 17 points. Oldham lay tenth on 22 points, while AFC Fylde remained rock bottom on 10.

Nathan Sheron put Oldham ahead after 16 minutes when he scored from 20 yards, a goal that proved the decisive factor at the half-time whistle.

On resumption, Devarn Green doubled the lead in the 49th with a back post header before Mitchell, featured in last week’s CONCACAF Nations League, pulled one back for the hosts with a lucky deflected strike four minutes later.

Jimmy Keohane leveled the game at 2-2 with the first goal of his brace in the 60th minute, but Hope re-established his side’s lead three minutes later with a curling effort, his first of the season.

James Norwood grabbed the all-important fourth goal in the 71st minute, and not even Keohane’s second in the 81st minute could change the outcome for Rochdale.

Poleon opened the scoring in the northwest in the 25th minute when he stroked Matthias Fanimo’s cross into the box past goalkeeper Theo Richardson.

Harry Davis’s header leveled the game after 57 minutes, and Ebbsfleet was forced to defend for just over half an hour after Ousseynou Cisse was sent off in the 63rd.
