Chef Patrick wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t afraid to show this side of himself. When he was growing up, he came face to face with the reality of food insecurity.On a positive note, he inherited an innate sense of compassion which eventually gave birth to cooking as an opportunity. When it came time for dinner, a young Wenford Patrick Simpson would find with his mother working, and a bare fridge, and that’s when he discovered spices would not only come in handy, but also prove quite transformative.What started as necessity evolved into passion and that gave way for tapping into Chef Patrick’s talent.In an effort to provide opportunities for others close to home, he is founding the Simpson Culinary Institute in Ochos Rios, Jamaica. His professional career started as a high school intern at Club Caribbean hotel and soon thereafter he excelled at resort style culinary arts which became useful during his time as a sous chef for cruise lines.Today his role is entirely different, as Corporate Executive Chef at BB Kings in NYC he has the clout and recognition required for elevating his brand with high visibility appearances like his show on TEMPO TV called Cook-Up with Chef Patrick and launching a line of cooking flavorings and cookware among other things.
