AUBURN, Washington, CMC – Established Barbadian reinsman Rocco Bowen ended his comeback season at the Emerald Downs racetrack in the United States with a double on Sunday’s 11-race card.

The 34-year-old finished the season in seventh and was one of three riders tied on 33 wins after he made up for lost time, having been sidelined this year when he broke his pelvis in five places during an accident in the starting gates in March this year at Oaklawn Park, another track where he rides, in the city of Hot Springs in the state of Arkansas.

After going close in earlier races, Bowen logged a 3-1/4 lengths win on the 5-2 favorite Shesaheatwave in the U.S. $9 000, claiming their fourth race over one mile on the dirt track.

Bown put Shesaheatwave into a stalking position before moving the eight-year-old brown mare up to take the lead nearing the three-eighths pole and got her to respond to a late challenge to clock one minute, 38.98 seconds.

After another series of close calls, including in the U.S. $50 000 co-featured 1/ST Bet WA Cup Filly and Mare Stakes and the Muckleshoot Tribal Classic Stakes, Bowen returned to slam the field aboard the 11-5 favorite Western Dream in the U.S. $8 500 claiming final race over one mile on the dirt track.

Western Dream set a pressured pace and opened a clear lead nearing the eighth pole, and the four-year-old, dark bay filly increased her advantage to finish in 1 min, 39.40 secs.
