KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC -A 25-year-old man will be sentenced on December 11 after he pleaded guilty to murdering his parents.

Simeon Ramsay, who is said to be suffering from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, has been deemed fit to answer the charges of murdering his parents. He has pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter.

Police charged Ramsay with the murders of 55-year-old school teacher Phyllis Ramsay and 69-year-old Cecil Ramsay, a minister of religion, whom he attacked and stabbed repeatedly at their home in Portmore, St Catherine, southeast of here on February 4, last year.

The prosecution accepted the guilty plea for the lesser offense of manslaughter when he appeared before Justice Bertram Morrison.

The Ramsays were found by a visiting relative with multiple stab wounds, and the accused was later held after crashing his vehicle.

He had reportedly confessed to the killings.
