TORONTO, Canada, CMC – Veteran Barbadian Juan Crawford and Jamaican jockey Jodeien Anderson logged victories on Thursday as the eight-month Woodbine season continued to creep to a quiet end.

Riding on the eight-race card, Crawford captured the CAN$65 900 race seven with an 8-1 chance Wildfire, while Anderson followed up in the evening’s $27 700 finale with victory aboard a 7-1 bet Forever Danish.

The 44-year-old Crawford has won 22 times from 244 rides this season, while Anderson has managed only six from 94 appearances at the celebrated Central Canada oval.

Japanese Kazushi Kimura tops the pile with 155 wins – 26 ahead of his nearest rival – and is a shoo-in for the title when the season winds up Sunday.

Crawford succeeded in a 6-½ furlong sprint when he steered three-year-old filly Wildfire to a two-length score over the three-year-old and upward maiden fillies and mares.

Work it Baby and Another Pinky dueled early on, with Crimson Nights stalking and Wildfire already well positioned on the outside.

Wildfire attacked the dueling pair coming off the final turn, and although Another Pinky still led, Crawford got his filly to the front to pick up the running and hit the wire first.

Anderson, more known for his exploits at Marquis Down in Saskatoon, grabbed his winner when he combined with three-year-old bay filly Forever Danish to beat the three-year-old and upward maiden fillies and mares by 1-¾ lengths.

Smoken Chloe and Look At Lil Sister rushed to the front before Anderson moved Forever Danish up the rails to take command, producing easy splits of 23.96 seconds for the quarter and 46.94 for the half.

Forever Danish brought the field into the stretch with a two-length advantage, which increased to four before winding down at the wire.
