LONDON, CMC – Jamaica striker Jonson Clarke-Harris and Grenada striker Kairo Mitchell continued their rich goal-scoring form for their respective clubs in the English leagues on Saturday, with contrasting results.

Clarke-Harris came off the substitutes bench to create the second goal for Peterborough United and then scored the third. They clinched a comfortable 3-1 win against Burton Albion in the English League 1 championship.

Mitchell netted his 12th goal of the season, and Sam Mather had a first professional goal to equalize. AFC Rochdale drew 2-2 with Oxford City in the English National League championship.

Peterborough won five consecutive matches in all competitions and four successive League 1 matches when they overcame Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

Jonson Clarke-Harris was introduced with the score level 1-1, and he created the second goal for Josh Knight before tapping home a stylish assist from fellow substitute Malik Mothersille to put the seal on an important win on the road for Posh, as the club is known.

Peterborough got in front after 55 minutes when Ricky Jade-Jones finished past Burton Albion goalkeeper Max Crocombe from a Harrison Burrows cross for his professional goal with his head.

The Brewers, as Burton Albion is known, leveled the scores as substitute Ademola Ola-Adebomi got the final touch after Ryan Sweeney flicked on a long throw-in from Thomas Hamer.

Posh got their noses in front again three minutes after a clipped cross from Ronnie Edwards was knocked down by Ephron Clarke-Harris and fired home by Josh Knight for his second goal in a week.

Five minutes of stoppage time were indicated, and Posh extended their advantage when Mothersille showed a neat piece of skill to beat the defender and lay it on a plate for Clarke-Harris, who tapped home from close range.

Mather earned Rochdale a draw and stopped rock-bottom visitors Oxford City from claiming a rare win at Crown Oil Arena.

Dale had taken the lead when defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell, who is of Jamaican heritage, played a long ball over the top of the Oxford City backline, and Mitchell sprung the off-side trap, controlled the ball, and calmly converted low under Oxford City goalkeeper Tom Watson to break the deadlock.

The visitors transformed their fortunes with two strikes eight minutes before the half-time whistle, putting them on course for their first win in eight matches.

Harvey Greenslade leveled the score when he flicked home from a corner kick in the 27th minute. Josh Parker converted in the 35th minute when Harry Birtwhistle found space down the right side, and his cross-shot was parried invitingly for the top scorer to slide into an empty net.

But Dale managed to get back on even terms on 77 minutes when Cian Hayes did well down the right. He took the ball to the byline and pulled a cross for Manchester United loanee Mather to knock into the net from 10 yards for his first goal in a Dale shirt in only his second appearance.
