BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Alwyn Jordan, who served as deputy to the Governor of the Central Bank Cleviston Haynes for more than three years, is now in the top spot for now.

According to a statement issued on Thursday which was Haynes’ last day on the job, Jordan has been appointed by its Board of Directors until further notice.

Haynes had acted as Governor of the Central Bank for one year following the firing of then Governor Dr. DeLisle Worrell in February 2017 before being appointed in the position on January 1, 2018. He announced last week that his contract had ended and would demit office on January 31.

“I wish, on behalf of the entire management and staff, to thank Mr. Haynes for the steady hand with which he led the Bank during his six years as Governor and, more broadly, for his service to the organization over the past 42 years,” said Jordan, who was Deputy Governor since October 2019.

“My immediate focus during my tenure will be on restoring Barbados’ economy and ensuring that the Bank remains a strong, resilient institution that can fulfill its mandate and serve the Barbadian public.”

Before assuming the role of Acting Governor, Jordan, in his capacity of Deputy Governor, had responsibility for the Bank’s Research and Economic Analysis, Bank Supervision, Management Information Systems, and operations departments and was Chair of the joint Financial Oversight Management Committee (FOMC).

Before joining the Bank, he served as Manager of the Research Department at the Central Bank of The Bahamas.
