UNITED STATES-Jamaican Prime Minister to engage Jamaican Diaspora at NY Town Hall meeting

NEW YORK, CMC – The Jamaica Consulate General in New York says that the Jamaican community in New York is set to engage directly with Prime Minister Andrew Holness during a Town Hall meeting at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in the Bronx on Saturday.

“The Consulate General of Jamaica has organized this event to bring together members of the Jamaican Diaspora and others interested in Jamaica’s future and development,” said the Consulate General in a statement. “The Town Hall is anticipated to be a significant gathering where Prime Minister Holness will address various topics relevant to Jamaicans at home and abroad.

“This event offers a unique platform for attendees to engage directly with the prime minister, discuss issues impacting the Diaspora, and explore ongoing initiatives and opportunities in Jamaica,” it added.

The Consulate General said joining Prime Minister Holness will be Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and Alsion Wilson, Consul General of Jamaica, New York.

“Together, they will provide insights into the Jamaican Government’s policies and programs focused on strengthening Diaspora ties, enhancing trade relations, and fostering investment opportunities,” the Jamaica Consulate General, New York, said. “Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with members of the Jamaican Consular team, who will be available to address questions and concerns related to passports, citizenship, and other consular matters.”

Additionally, the Consulate General said representatives from Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) will be present to offer guidance on investment opportunities in Jamaica, provide information, and answer potential investors’ queries.

The Consulate General said members of the public who wish to participate are encouraged to arrive early to benefit from the available services.

“The evening is expected to be both informative and engaging, featuring entertainment opportunities that celebrate Jamaica’s rich cultural heritage,” To ensure a smooth and organized event, all attendees must register in advance.

“The Jamaican Government remains committed to maintaining a strong and dynamic connection with the Diaspora, recognizing their vital role in the nation’s continued development,” the Consulate General said. “The Consulate General encourages all Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica to join this important event, learn more about the shared goals, and participate in shaping Jamaica’s future.”
