PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Military Deputy Commander of the United States Southern Command, Vice Admiral Alvin Holsey, is on a four-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago as part of a Continuing Promise 2023 mission stop.

October 22-25. His visit follows the successful Continuing Promise 2023 mission stop in Trinidad and Tobago in September.

Vice Admiral Holsey’s visit began on Sunday, October 22. He will meet with Ambassador Candace Bond, government representatives, and critical Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force and Coast Guard leaders during that time.

He will also tour the recently US-funded refurbished maritime operations command center at the Coast Guard headquarters in Chaguaramas. The command center is equipped with the latest technology to assist the Coast Guard in efficiently fighting transnational criminal threats, including the trafficking of people, weapons, and narcotics.

Vice Admiral Holsey and Ambassador Bond will also visit Tobago to participate in a field hospital and ambulance donation ceremony, a combined value of USD 973,000, to the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA). The ambulance and field hospital were procured and funded by the embassy’s Military Liaison Office through the U.S. Southern Command’s (SOUTHCOM) Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) and represent U.S. commitment to the humanitarian disaster response resiliency for Tobago.

Ambassador Bond said the visit is another example of the strong partnership between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago.

“The United States is Trinidad and Tobago’s greatest friend and partner. Vice Admiral Holsey’s visit is a follow-up to the recently concluded Continuing Promise mission stop when we assured Tobago that it would benefit from the generosity of the United States government. We are here to deliver.”
