PARAMARIBO, Suriname, CMC—According to an official statement issued here, President Chandrikapersad Santokhi will leave on Tuesday to attend the inauguration of the re-elected President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader.
It said that Santokhi will lead a delegation that includes his wife, Mellisa Santokhi-Seenacherry, to the August 16 event.
The Suriname Communications Service (SCS) statement said before the inauguration that President Santokhi would hold bilateral talks with fellow government leaders on recent developments in the region.
“In addition, the head of state will meet with companies interested in investing in Suriname. President Santokhi and his delegation will return to Suriname on Saturday,” the statement added.

Abinader, 56, had won well over the 50 percent needed to rule out a run-off election, forcing three-time former president Leonel Fernandez and another rival, Abel Martinez, to concede.
