KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC — Jamaica’s motorsport sensation, Fraser McConnell, is gearing up for his third season in Nitrocross, with the opening rounds set to take place at the Richmond Raceway in Virginia on September 7-8, 2024.
McConnell made a powerful impression in the 2023-2024 season, securing victory in the first round. His success continued as he clinched wins in Round 5 in Phoenix and Round 9 in Las Vegas, along with a second-place finish in Round 6. His stellar performances earned him the runner-up spot, just behind Robin Larsson, who claimed his second consecutive championship. This marked a significant improvement from McConnell’s third-place finish in the 2022-2023 season.
Entering his third season, McConnell, who currently holds the title of Jamaica’s Motorsport Athlete of the Year, is more determined than ever to elevate his game.
“Last season was an exhilarating journey, and I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished as a team. I’m even more driven to give it my all this year and put the black, green, and gold on the top podium spot,” McConnell shared.
“The support from Jamaica and motorsport fans around the globe has been phenomenal, and I’m eager to give them even more to celebrate this season. We’re focused on making every moment count and proving our capabilities on the world stage.”
The Richmond Raceway presents a new challenge for the Jamaican driver, but he eagerly anticipates it.
“Starting the season on a new track is always an exciting challenge. It levels the playing field and forces every driver to adapt quickly, which I’m very comfortable with. I’m excited to test my skills in Richmond and set the tone for what I hope will be another remarkable season,” McConnell said.
Nitrocross, renowned for its intense, high-adrenaline races, will feature ten rounds across six venues from September 7 to March 2, with stops in Richmond, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Miami, and Las Vegas.
