Born into a family renowned for pioneering the Soca genreā€”her grandfather, Garfield Blackman (Lord Shorty or Ras Shorty I), and her mother, Abbi Blackman, a celebrated Calypso Queenā€”Nailah’s musical talent was evident from her first performance at age 4. By age 11, she was writing, composing, and playing multiple instruments.

Her ascent in the music industry began with the 2017 hit song “Work Out,” featuring Kes the Band, which has amassed nearly 100 million streams. Nailahā€™s debut EP “Sokah” and her album “Teknique,” which included the chart-topping “Come Home,” have solidified her status as a powerhouse in the Soca music scene. She continues to influence the international Carnival scene with hits like “Best Self,” “Round and Rosie,” and “Jam of The Year” for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2024.
