KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC—American Airlines, a U.S.-based carrier, has taken a six-week break from its twice-weekly flights from Miami, Florida, to the Ian Fleming International Airport in Boscobel, located in the eastern parish of St. Mary.
According to the Member of Parliament for Western St. Mary, Robert Montague, the break allows the airline to review the last six months’ operations. It will enable the airport’s authority to complete important internal works.
“The authority will use the time to work on the backend because the airport is used often, and the passenger’s comfort is paramount. So they will be taking a break – but as of December 5, American Airlines will be going to daily flights….we also anticipate that another airline will begin flying into Ian Fleming by the end of the year, and we keep our fingers crossed….” Montague said
He also added that the airport is slowly outgrowing its capacity.
American Airlines’ twice-weekly service between the Miami International Airport and Ian Fleming started in February.
