FORT ERIE, Canada– Guyana-born Sunny Singh won twice on Sunday’s six-race card at Fort Erie, which was dominated by Caribbean jockeys.

The veteran rider captured the CAN$24 108 race four over a mile and 70 yards with 2-5 bet Ante Up Alex before returning to take race six, also worth CAN$24 108, with 7-1 choice Dance to the Beach in a 5-½ furlong sprint.

Singh has four wins from 20 rides in the three-week-old season, which runs until October 18, one behind the pair of Barbadian Juan Crawford and Jamaican Kirk Johnson, both of whom tasted success on the card.

Guyana’s Sunny Singh.

Singh opened his account when he paired with three-year-old chestnut gelding Ante Up Alex to beat the three-year-Olds upward by a head.

Favorite M V speed led through the half run in 47.69 seconds before Singh brought Ante Up Alex from just off the pace to wear down the leader at the wire.

Singh’s second win was a dominant five-length score with three-year-old filly Dance to the Beach, quickly brushing aside the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares.

Two-to-one chance Natasha’s Bazin, with Johnson aboard, made the early running, but Singh brought Dance to the Beach with a challenge on the turn and took the lead in the stretch before dominating the lane.

Crawford, meanwhile, won the $14 700 race two over five furlongs with favorite Ready to Rumble, dueling through the first quarter with Hardroadtoglory before getting clear to beat the three-year-old and upward maiden fillies and mares by four lengths.

Johnson logged his success in the $15 435 race three over seven furlongs, combining with 4-1 choice Bold Anciaux to get the better of the three-year-Olds and upward by three-quarters of a length.
