ETOBICOKE, Ontario– Ace Barbadian reinsman Patrick Husbands remained in the top-10 jockeys this season at the Woodbine racetrack with a pair of wins on Friday’s 10-race card.

Husbands now have 28 wins for the season, and he is seventh in the jockeys’ table, which Kaushi Kimura is currently leading with 71 wins.

Husbands opened the day’s racing with a one-length win aboard the odds-on favorite Twelfth Moon in the CAN $101 200 first race over six furlongs on the all-weather track.

Twelfth Moon showed good speed from the outside to take the lead and was headed at the top of the stretch, but the five-year-old bay mare responded well when Husbands asked her for more about one furlong out, and she held off challenges on the inside and outside to finish in one minute, 11.68 seconds.

Husbands followed up with 1-1/2 lengths win astride the 7-1 choice Dissectologist in the CAN $123 200 fifth race over seven furlongs on the all-weather track.

He put Dissectologist in a good tracking position early behind three contesting front-runners. He remained patient through the turn before he angled the three-year-old chestnut gelding a little on the outside to engage the leaders turning for home and wore them down close to the finish to take the win in 1 min, 24.69 secs.

In between, another Barbadian jockey, Kaveh Nicholls, took his tally of wins for the season to 15, putting him 14th in the table, when he got 1-1/4 lengths win on the 18-1 outsider Silent Fortune in the CAN $64 300 second race over six furlongs on the all-weather track.

Nicholls raced Silent Fortune in the middle of the pack early before he took aim on the two-year-old bay gelding around the turn and took the lead 70 yards from the finish for a time of 1:12.88.

The previous day, Husbands and Nicholls logged wins on the eight-race card to keep up appearances.

Husbands won the CAN $53 200 sixth race with the 6-5 favorite Silent Causeway, a five-year-old dark bay mare, by three lengths in 1:23.12.

Nicholls then took the CAN $108 700 seventh race with the 12-5 favorite Rockcrest, a five-year-old grey gelding by a head bob in 56.07.
