ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC—Grenada has launched a new initiative to empower the country’s unemployed and underemployed young women.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports said that the “Elevate Her” program is tailored to address the unique challenges faced by young women between the ages of 18 and 35 and will be launched in Carriacou early next year to ensure inclusivity and representation across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.

The “Elevate Her” program is intended to provide second-chance opportunities to females who were unable to complete primary, secondary, and/or tertiary-level education and equip participants with nationally recognized qualifications to meet labor market needs.

It is also intended to upgrade and empower participants by providing mentoring, essential life skills training, business development support, and personal and professional development. It also ensures participants’ employment by securing job placements or business start-up support.

The government said it also provides a clear and fixed timeline for training to ensure efficient skill acquisition and entry into the workforce. Carlene Perryman said “Elevate Her” was born from persistent appeals by young women seeking opportunities for advancement.

“The Division of Youth has listened to the voices of Grenada’s young women. “Elevate Her” is our response to their call, a program specifically designed to prepare them for the job market and life.”

The “Elevate Her” program is aligned with the Grenada National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) 2020-2035, directly supporting its pillars of human capital development and youth employment.

The ministry said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to providing second-chance opportunities for youth and reducing unemployment, ensuring Grenada’s women are positioned for sustainable livelihood.

It said that young women interested in joining the program are encouraged to register at designated centers nationwide.
