GRENADA-New Grenada Ambassador to the OAS presents credentials

WASHINGTON, CMC – The Organization of American States (OAS) says the new Permanent Representative of Grenada, Tarlie Francis, presented his credentials to OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro on Friday.

In a ceremony at OAS headquarters here, Almagro highlighted the OAS’ growing collaboration with Grenada and the rest of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries in all areas of the organization.

“We recognize the confidence that the Government of Grenada has placed in the OAS Charter and its unwavering commitment to free and fair elections, and welcome ‘good neighborliness’ to promote regional integration,” said the OAS Secretary General.

Francis said that his country will promote an agenda in the OAS that includes the fight against climate change, resilience, economic growth, and respect for human rights.

“Grenada values its membership in the OAS as a platform to foster regional cooperation, democratic governance, and sustainable development,” he said.

The OAS said Grenada has been a member of the hemispheric organization since 1975.
