MOTHERWELL, Scotland – Newly minted Reggae Boy Rolando Aarons has rejoined Scottish Premiership outfit Motherwell on a season-long loan from English Championship side Huddersfield Town.

The 26-year-old Jamaica-born winger made eight appearances for Mother well, scoring once, on loan from English Premier League club Newcastle United in 2020 before the COVID-enforced shutdown.

“Rolando is a target I had earmarked even before I got the job as I saw first-hand his qualities and potential when he was last here,” said Mother well manager Steven Hammell.

“He’s a player with so much to offer. He has pace, is direct with a lot of energy, and will give us more options on either the left or right flank.

“He’s had a frustrating time with injuries in the last year sat needs to get back to playing regularly. We think Mother well is the perfect platform for him to do that.”

Added Huddersfield loans manager David Fox: “It’s a positive move for Rolando to a club he’s already familiar with. Unfortunately, injuries and the positive form of other players in his position have been an issue for him since joining Town, but this allows him to go and play regular minutes and recapture his form and fitness.”

Aarons emerged from English club Bristol City’s youth system to join Newcastle, where he played 27 games and spent time on loan at Italy’s Verona, Czech club Slovin Liberec, England’s Sheffield Wednesday, and Wycombe Wanderers as well as Mother well.

He moved to Huddersfield on a permanent deal in January 2021, but a cruciate knee ligament injury restricted him to just one appearance last season.

Aarons made his debut for the Reggae Boyz in June,  coming on as a substitute against Suriname. His cousin Max Aarons, 22, is a defender with Championship outfit Norwich City.
