LONDON, CMC – Jamaica international Leon Bailey has signed a new contract with Aston Villa, the West Midlands club announced Monday.
The exciting 26-year-old winger has been one of the reasons behind Villa’sVilla’sVilla’s brilliant form in the Premier League this season, the club currently lying fifth on 46 points – a single point off Tottenham in fourth.
To be one of the club’sclub’sclub’s leading attackers, Bailey has scored ten goals in all competitions and registered nine assists.
Villa manager Unai Emery said extending Bailey’sBailey’sBailey’s stay at the club had been a foregone conclusion.
“I spoke with him this year when we started pre-season about how we could improve different issues, different things he wasn’twasn’twasn’t consistently showing us,” Emery said ahead of Villa’sVilla’sVilla’s FA Cup clash with Chelsea last week.
“And his reaction was fantastic. His commitment has improved, his focus, working harder every day, his way here, adding for us his skills – scoring goals and assists.
“And we decided, more or less, one month ago, he deserved to extend his contract.”
Bailey has scored 16 goals in 87 appearances since joining Villa from German outfit Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.
He struggled with injuries in his first season at Villa, scoring just two goals in 22 appearances, but has .sHeped up this season to post his best numbers.
