JAMMU, India, CMC – On Wednesday, both Lendl Simmons and Chris Barnwell failed before rain arrived to force the abandonment of Bhilwara Kings’ clash with Southern Superstars in the Legends Cricket League.

Sent in at the Maulana Azad Stadium in the northern Indian city, the Kings had reached 117 for six at the end of the 17th over when the adverse weather ended the game prematurely.

Simmons made only 11 before he was second out in the fifth over with 21 runs on the board, while Barnwell was run out for a first-ball ‘duck’ in the 17th over.

With Kings struggling, Iqbal Abdulla initiated a revival, lashing 40 from 33 balls with seven fours in a 44-run, third-wicket partnership with Robin Bist (32), who then added a further 29 for the fourth with captain Irfan Pathan (10).

Both were casualties as the Kings lost three wickets for 14 runs to collapse at the back end.

Kings lie one from the bottom of the six-team league on three points, while Superstars are one above them in fourth only courtesy of a superior net run rate.

Tigers, who boast West Indians Chadwick Walton and Imran Khan on their roster, top the standings on four points.
