HAMILTON, Bermuda, CMC—Premier David Burt welcomed three new members to the cabinet of his ruling Progressive Labour Party (PLP) on Monday, more than a month after two senior members quit his administration.
At a simple ceremony at Government House, Kim Wilkerson, an insurance industry veteran, Crystal Caesar, and Jache Adams were sworn into office.
Wilkerson has been sworn in as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, replacing Kathy-Lynn Simmons, who resigned from the Burt administration in August.
Simmons has since quit as the parliamentary representative for the Sandys North constituency, resulting in a bye-election scheduled for October 4 this year.
Wilkerson replaces the Reverend Emily Gail Dill in the Upper House. He is the party’s candidate for next month’s by-election.
Caesar has been appointed Minister for the Cabinet Office, replacing Vance Campbell, who resigned from the government and has since joined the central opposition One Bermuda Alliance (OBA).
Adams has been appointed as Junior Minister of Finance.
