NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – Police say a 47-year-old grandmother was shot and killed on Monday night after being hit by a stray bullet as she cradled her grandchild at her home.
They said Tamika Nottage was sitting in her bed holding her one-year-old grandchild when tragedy struck.
TAMIKA Nottage-Cime said her mother had just entered her bedroom to spend time with her, as the family often gathered there to talk and laugh.

Nottage-Cime said she screamed for her two great-grandchildren to get down. When the gunfire stopped, she realized her daughter had not moved, and the grandchild she was holding was splattered with blood.
Police said a gunman, who was pursuing another man in the area, fired shots into Nottage’s home. The baby was unharmed, and the killer remains at large.
Nottage was also on the campaign team for Centreville legislator Jomo Campbell, who said, “Our hearts go out to the family who are terribly shaken up.
“We would like to take this opportunity to extend to The Bahamas at large a clarion call for peace and unity on our streets. There really needs to be more room for conversation and less confrontation. I honestly can’t find the words.”
