SOUTH CAROLINA, United States, CMC – Jamaica’s Danielle Williams set a world-leading indoor time in the women’s 60-metre hurdles on her way to winning gold at the Clemson Invitational indoor track and field meet here on Saturday.
Williams, a two-time World Champion, raced to victory in 7.94 seconds, ahead of compatriot Onika Williams in 8.04 seconds.
Three other Jamaican athletes also copped gold medals, with University of Georgia’s Dejanae Oakley and the Clemson University pair of Shantae Foreman and Kimeka Smith topping their respective events.
Oakley ran a personal best of 35.94 seconds to win the women’s 300m, beating teammate Shaquena Foote (36.50) into second position, while Foreman produced an indoor personal best leap of 6.50 metres to win the women’s long jump, the second best all-time at Clemson.
