VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CMC – Trinidadian rider Brian Boodramsingh grabbed a share of the honors at Hastings Racecourse here Saturday when he guided 6-1 bet Brooke Magic to the capture of the CAN$75 000 Glen Todd Fantasy Stakes.
In one of two added-money races on the seven-race program, Boodramsingh combined with the dark bay filly to trounce the two-year-old fillies by 2-¾ lengths over a mile and sixteenth in a time of one minute, 45:76 seconds.
Favourite Lizzie’s Rayne ran second, finishing narrowly ahead of 3-1 bet Viva la Diva.
Boodramsingh also had a leg up in the co-feature $75 000 Glen Todd Ascot Graduation Stakes in race six but finished fifth aboard 2-1 choice Wealthy Texan, as favorite August Rain took the wire first by 2-½ lengths.
In the Glen Todd Fantasy in race five, Viva la Diva and Lizzie’s Rayne dueled through the half-mile in 48.16, with Boodramsingh positioning Brooke Magic in a stalking position just off the leaders.
Entering the stretch, Boodramsingh slipped Brooke Magic through on the rails to quickly pick up the running and surge to the wire.
