
MILAN, Italy, CMC – Jamaican bobsledder Mica Moore is currently in 15th position out of 25 competitors after two heats of the women’s monobob competition at the Winter Olympics were completed on Sunday.
Competing at the Eugenio Monti Sliding Center in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Moore clocked 1:00.55 in the first run to be 17th best. She shaved that time to 1:00.43 in the second run, the 14th best run in the heat, to leave her in 15th place overall with two runs left.
Germany’s Laura Nolte was the fastest in the first run with 59.44 seconds, followed by two Americans, Elana Meyers-Taylor in 59.49 seconds and Kaysha Love in 59.54 seconds.
American Kaillie Humphries, who was fourth after the first run, was quickest in the second run with a time of 59.65 seconds, followed by Nolte with 59.68 seconds and Canadian Melissa Lotholz with 59.84 seconds.
Nolte, Meyers, Taylor, and Humphries currently occupy the three podium positions overall.
The competition will continue on Monday with two more runs, after which the winner will be decided by the lowest cumulative time over all four runs.
