BRASILIA, Brazil, CMC – Belize’s star volleyball player Ernest Broaster has signed a one-year contract to play professionally in Brazil with Goiás Sports Club in the Superliga Brasileira de Voleibol. The 23-year-old Broaster, who recently graduated from Cornerstone University in Michigan, is already in Brazil, training and preparing for the championships, which kick off on October 24.
The Superliga Brasileira de Voleibol is Brazil’s top-tier volleyball league, known for its elite competition and world-class athletes.
Broaster becomes only the second homegrown Belizean to go pro in volleyball, following Bryton Codd’s trailblazing season in Finland three years ago.
“I am so grateful for it, because since I started playing volleyball, I said I wanted to be a professional player. So, I am making as much of it as I can, because the championships begin in October, on October 24. So, that’s a month and a half to prepare myself for that,” Broaster told News 5.
“I have a lot on my shoulders. I have a lot to prove. So, I am putting in that work every day.”
