PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC—The People’s National Movement (PNM) conceded defeat in the general election Monday night and congratulated its opponents.

PNM leader and former prime minister Dr. Keith Rowley told reporters, “It is not a good night for the PNM, from all reports we have lost. “From what we have heard, it is clear that we have lost the elections,” he added.

Prime Minister Stuart Young said that the members of the population have spoken, “and despite tonight, I will fight for Trinidad and Tobago. “We will hold the UNC and the coalition of self-interest to the coals,” he added.

Young said he expects the party to win 10 or 12 seats in the general election. The party contested all 41 seats in the election.
