WASHINGTON, CMC — A Jamaican man is among five migrants expelled from the United States to the Central African nation of Eswatini.

All five, including the Jamaican, have been described as “barbaric” by Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security, Tricia McLaughlin.

Announcing a third-country deportation flight, McLaughlin said, “This flight took individuals so uniquely barbaric that their home countries refused to take them back,” McLaughlin wrote. They all have criminal backgrounds ranging from murder to sexual assault.

The five men, including the Jamaican, are from Vietnam, Laos, Cuba, and Yemen. The migrants were not identified by name; however, their photographs were shared. Eswatini is a landlocked country located between South Africa and Mozambique, occupying an area slightly smaller than the state of New Jersey.
