TRINIDAD:Police search for relatives after two killed in family land dispute

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad–Police are searching for a 33-year-old male relative, said to be the main suspect in the murders of two people and the injury to three others in an apparent family land dispute.

The police said that the incident on Sunday night at New Grant, on the outskirts of Princes Town, south of here, resulted in the death of Anterro Mc Queen, 52, and his sister-in-law Monica Jagroop, 35.

Jagroop’s father Manickch Jagroop, 72, and Mc Queen’s wife, Indra Jagroop were injured in the attack.

Police said both survivors were chopped multiple times and Indra Jagroop’s hands were severed.  They are patients at the San Fernando General Hospital.

Media reports said that McQueen and his wife, were at their home aon Sunday night, when the suspect called out to them. When the couple went outside, the suspect ran up to McQueen and chopped him on the neck. As he collapsed to the ground, Indra went to his assistance, but she was also attacked. She was chopped several times on her face, shoulder and arms.

Indra’s father, who lives nearby, was also chopped on the left side of his face. The suspect then went to Jagroop’s home and chopped her multiple times.
