PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, The Police Service Commission (PSC) Friday urged members of the population to participate in a national survey regarding their experiences and satisfaction with the performance of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).

The TTPS said that the “Public Trust, Confidence, and Satisfaction Survey” will take place during the period NovemberNovember 27mberDecember 15ing the public “with an opportunity to have their say about the responsiveness of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to the safety and security needs and concerns of the public.

“The survey is one of the tools the Commission uses to undertake its constitutional mandate of monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of the discharge of the functions of the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioners of Police,” the PSC said.

It said that the survey findings will provide valuable insights into the public’s perception of the TTPS and assist the Commission in identifying specific measures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Police Service and its leadership.

“The Commission, therefore, urges everyone to take the survey and to be involved in making the vision of a police service that delivers the best possible safety and security outcomes to Trinidad and Tobago a reality.”

The PSC said that last year’s survey results were presented in the Commission’s 2022 Annual Report, and this year’s findings will also be collated and presented in the 2023 Annual Report.

The PSC said that to ensure the broadest possible awareness of and access to the survey, it collaborates with various stakeholders, including government ministries and departments, non-governmental organizations, and private sector organizations, to make the survey available on as many websites and social media sites as possible.

“Members of the public can also complete the survey through quick response (QR) codes, which enable fast and easy access by anyone with a smartphone,” it said, adding, “This is your opportunity to be heard on an issue that affects all of us.”

“All responses to the survey, opinions collected, information arising from the surveys, identifiers, and any information about respondents learned incidentally will be kept confidential and will not be discussed, disclosed, or disseminated,” the PSC added.

In recent months, the TTPS has come under increased public scrutiny as a result of the number of murders in Trinidad and Tobago. So far this year, the country has recorded more than 500 murders. Last year, the oil-rich twin island republic had a record 605 killings.
