PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has congratulated government representatives for a recent campaign that led t Trinidad and Tobago being chosen by the international community to preside over the business of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly next September.
In a statement on Thursday, Rowley congratulated Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne, the Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago Dennis Francis, Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations, and the team from the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, both here and at the United Nations in New York.
He said the outcome is “an acknowledgment of the high esteem in which our nation is held and is proof of our mantra that we may be small in size but not insignificant in stature.”
“As Prime Minister, I extend our sincerest thanks to the many countries that supported and encouraged us and whose staff worked alongside our people in the full understanding that Ambassador Francis and Trinidad and Tobago represent all the best of the high ideals of the United Nations.”
“As a leader among small island developing states (SIDS), we confidently look forward to a successful conference under the theme of “peace, prosperity, progress, and sustainability,” Rowley stated.
