PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC—Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley left the country on Sunday to undergo a medical checkup in the United States.

At a recent post-Cabinet news conference, Rowley said he had postponed his international medical examination for two years.

He said he feels ‘confident and comfortable’, noting that his local doctors have been important, but there is a need for his examination in the United States.

During his absence, Stuart Young, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, will act as Prime Minister until Rowley’s return.
